Overnight oats seem to be the latest craze and we are definitely huge fans. Why? Not only are they super quick and easy to make, but they are also very convenient as you do not have to cook them. This makes them the perfect go-to brekkie as you can pop the ingredients into the fridge just before you go to bed. In the morning when time is tight, you have your perfect morning breakfast.
Oats are one of those super foods as they contain a lot of nutritional value. They are brilliant as they contain high amounts of fibre, which slows down the absorption of sugars into the bloodstream. This will regulate and will keep your blood glucose levels from rising too fast. Oats are a complex carbohydrate and are digested slowly so they will keep you fuller for longer. They also contain lots of vitamins, minerals and antioxidants. These are extremely important as they support every system in our body including the immune system, the brain and the nervous system. Oats are also a source of natural protein, which is a key part of everyone’s diet, especially when training so the muscles can grow and repair.
Prep Time: 3 Minutes
Cooling Time: Overnight/Minimum of 4 hours
- ⅓ cup Greek Yogurt
- ⅓ cup Rolled Oats (can also be gluten-free)
- ⅔ cup of your choice of Unsweetened Milk (our preferences are coconut or almond)
- 1 tbsp Chia Seeds
- 1 Drizzle of Honey
- 1 chopped/mashed Banana
- 1 tbsp of Dark Chocolate Chunks
- Mix all the ingredients together in a large container
- Place the lid on and put in the refrigerator overnight.
- Top with chocolate shavings and bananas before serving
NB: the bananas will brown so best to add these as late as possible, ideally the morning!
