Maybe you’re somebody who has considered getting a personal trainer in the past, but felt put off for a number of reasons. Maybe you’re put off by cost, or because you feel embarrassed in a gym – there are an infinite amount of reasons people don’t go through with it, no matter how much they want to get in shape.

Online Personal Trainers

Lately, there’s been a surge in the rise of online personal trainers. People are choosing their trainer online, rather than having a traditional trainer. An online trainer sends over a plan, maybe even a nutrition guide if the client is lucky. Then the client gets on with it. They may send in weekly check ins and have tweaks to their training/nutrition. There are some benefits to this. It can be cheaper, and some online trainers are good at what they do. That being said; it’s still a risky option when you compare it to offline personal training.

Do you really know what you’re getting with an online personal trainer? You don’t know if they’re employed by a gym, or even if they’re qualified to be giving you advice. If you already know a fair bit about health and fitness, you may be able to spot a fraud a mile off. But for those that don’t, it can lead to following dangerous advice from unprofessionals.

It’s also not entirely clear as to whether this person is on the same page as you. Sure, you may have sent over your goals and pictures in an email, but they can’t see you in person or sit down to have a real chat with you about what you’re looking to do. This can lead to miscommunication, and ultimately, not reaching your desired goals.

Not only this, your online personal trainer is not there to push you when you need it the most. Sure, they might send you a ‘how’s it going?’ text if you haven’t checked in with them for a while, or even a ‘well done!’ when you tell them you increased your deadlift PB. However, they can’t truly push you through your workouts and make sure you’re challenging yourself to the max. You can easily skip exercises you don’t like when you’re on your own, and it’s all too easy to cut your workout short because the gym’s busy or you feel tired. Having somebody there to push you can make all the difference to the results you get. Not to mention correct your form and ensure you’re not going to hurt yourself!

Ultimately, it’s up to you whether you choose to use an online trainer or a traditional trainer. Make sure you weigh up the pros and cons, and do extensive background research on an online trainer before you hand over any cash. Not all of them are created equal, and the price isn’t always an indication of whether they’re going to be a quality trainer or not. Just because they’re charging a substantial amount of money doesn’t make them a good trainer, or qualified to hand out advice.

With our personal trainers, you get what you pay for. You get to meet your trainer, ensure they’re a good fit for you, and get on the same page before you start a plan. You even have the option of training in your own home! How are you going to reach your health and fitness goals?
