Homemade Granola Recipe with Bee Pollen
What is Bee Pollen?
There are several benefits of bee pollen, but many people have never even heard of it. Bee pollen is an ultra fine powder from the male element of the flower that bees gather back to their hive for food. Bee pollen is full of protein, fats and minerals which make it a great substitute for protein powder. Not only is bee pollen a great source of protein but it’s also high in important enzymes and antioxidants that have many therapeutic properties.
The benefits of bee pollen are endless and we had the opportunity to incorporate The Hive Honey Shop’s Bee Pollen to this delicious granola recipe. Granola can be used for many dishes such as yogurt and cereal, or it can stand alone. This granola is the mixture of sweet and salty and will surely satisfy any cravings you might have. Store-bought granola is usually packed full of refined sugar which makes homemade granola a healthy substitute. This granola would be a great addition to add to snacks, which will keep you fuelled for any type of fitness session.
Granola Recipe
Ingredients:
2 cup oats
1 cup unsweetened coconut flakes
1 cup raw almonds
¼ cup flaxseeds
3 tbsp coconut sugar
1 tsp cinnamon
½ tsp salt
½ cup coconut oil
½ cup honey
1 tsp vanilla extract
¼ cup The Hive Bee Pollen
Instructions:
- Preheat the oven to 350
- In a large mixing bowl, combine all the dry ingredients; oats, almonds, coconut flakes, flaxseed, coconut sugar, cinnamon and salt. Toss until well combined
- In a smaller pot, heat the coconut oil until melted. Once melted, remove from heat and whisk in the honey and vanilla.
- Pour the liquid over the mixture of dry ingredients. Toss until all ingredients are evenly coated.
- Line baking sheet with parchment paper and spread the granola evenly.
- Bake for 15 minutes, mix it up, then bake for remaining 15 minutes
- After a total of 25 minutes, remove the granola mixture from the oven and sprinkle it with bee pollen.
- Let the granola cool completely and once cool, break the granola into pieces. Serve however you feel.
